Nature Journal

I am taking part in a nature journal RR with 4 other players in Norway, USA and Romania. How exciting. This is my journal and the first entry. It will travel to Romania next.

Sunday morning in the forest

As the weather has been splendit and I promised my daughter to have a trip to the forest, we packed our things on sunday and went to the nearby small forest. It is just a small one, but we had a great time.

We collected wild edibles. My daughter loves sorrel (Sauerklee, Oxalis) best. I think with those beautyful flowers it looks like a faerie plant.

We also met a frog

And there was Gundermann (Glechoma hederacea)

And another little frog which did not turn into a prince by kissing *shudder*

Beautyful Stitchwort (Große Sternmiere, Stellaria holostea)

Anemones (Buschwindröschen, Anemone nemosrosa), beautyful but not eatable! They somehow remind me of my childhood. I don't know why.

Pilewort (Scharbockskraut, Ranunculus ficaria) poisonous, too.

We had a lovely picknick...

..and a happy child :-)

Earth Day

This is my contribution to the Green Challenge on MadeByHand. I'll send it as ad on for the Earth Day Calligraphy Exchange. I made envelopes out of old calendar pages and sewed the calligraphed adress labels on top of it. Rubberstamp is by Quietfiredesign.

Two of those tulips started to bloom on my balcony. They smell divine! (And I love this camera of my man!)

Frog Spawn

The first froggies are born. Well, almost. Now it takes another 40 days or so until they've transformed into real frogs. I don't know how long we'll keep them in that glas. Maybe we'll bring them to the nature resort before they become frogs (and before the baby is born, as I don't know if I'll have the sense for frog babies afterwards either)

Frog Spawn Update

Maybe you are wondering how the frog spawn is doing. First I thought nothing would happen and maybe it died. But During the last two days amazing changes are visible in the inside of the bubbles. The little black dots started to grow longer and part into 2 and today into 3 parts.

Frog Spawn

Yesterday I put the frog spawn into a bigger container and added some rain water. Let's see how those babies develop:
