Maybe you already thought this blog is dead. I am here, but somehow busy with real life. No creative projects lately either. I don't even manage to get hold of my to-do list. However, I am planning a new project. Last year I got a pile of old shirts from my uncle. I decided to recycle them into a quilt. I read somewhere in a book that this is the origin of quilting: recycling those old worn out clothes. To work with smalles pieces of fabric. So let's see what I come up with those old shirts. I started cutting them into 10 x 10 cm squares yesterday (got a pile of about 200 pieces)
I was inspired by a very simple layout, sewn of 9-patches-squares, as you can see here on needlebooks blog (very beautyful!)
So after counting and viewing, I started planning. Here's my sketch:
Now I need to cut all the plain squares and sew the stuff together. Let's see how long it will take me. I don't want to buy new fabric for the project but recycle fabrics from my stash. The back lining will be an old bedsheet. I am not sure if I'll use a white bedsheet or dye it terracotta or so first.

Such a wonderful idea Ramona.
I simply would not have the patience for such a long project, not at the moment any ways. But I would love to do it one day.
I can't wait to see the end result. I am sure it is going to be just beautiful! x
